District Committee

District Committee

The purpose of the district is to work through chartered organizations and community groups to organize and support successful units. The end result of effective district support is more and more youth members receiving a better and better program.

The District Committee is made up of volunteers who assist in delivering the Scouting program on a district level to all units in North Star District. Each of the following sub-committees works together to this end.

Finance

The Finance Committee sees that the district provides its share of funds to the total council operating budget. The committee is led by the Vice-Chair of Finance, Howard Scott II. The committee is responsible for:

  • Community Friends of Scouting
  • Patron
  • Popcorn Sales
  • Unit Money Earning Applications

Membership

The Membership Committee strives for growth through the organization of new Scouting units and through new members and adult volunteers joining existing units and working to retain current members. The committee is led by the Vice-Chair of Membership, Marjorie Manzo. Responsibilities include:

  • Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Venturer Recruiting
  • Webelos to Scout Transition
  • New Unit Organization
  • Tiger Den Leader Mentoring

Program

The Program Committee concentrates on helping Scouting units with camp promotion; special activities including community service; training adult volunteers; and youth advancement and recognition. Responsibilities include:
